We had a very relaxed day at home today, a wonderful pancake breakfast, and no particular hurry about anything.
Rebecca and I had a long conversation about moving to the US. She expressed that she was surprised how seamless it went for me, without any major cultural adjustment. And she is right, that's how it felt for me too. In Ireland I didn't experience that at all. I was always an alien there and I didn't understand most of the cultural subtleties, if there were any.
I had an incredibly warm welcome in the US and I've made so many friends. There are many preconceived ideas about the US and American people in Europe that aren't true. It makes me sad how many of these misconceptions are simply based on cultural differences and misunderstandings. I love living here and I don't want to move away again.
