We had a fantastic conversation with Gary over coffee this morning. We talked a lot about artistic development over the past weeks and how a 365 forces you to develop on some level. A huge issue for me is not being able to shoot in my own style for large parts of the project - which I dearly love and hate at the same time. On the one hand it makes me feel bad when all I got on a day is crap, on the other hand I'm trying so many new things right now that I would have otherwise never explored. That's a very good thing and so are growing pains.
Gary said a very important sentence during our conversation: "But who wants to take a good picture every day? The last thing you want is to be good regularly." - and that's exactly the point. Not only is it impossible to do, but it would also take from your personal development. It wouldn't be special anymore to make something good or outstanding. It's like little children wishing for it to be Christmas every day, it would take all the magic away if that really happened. Christmas is so extraordinary because it only happens once in a great while. And so is taking a really good picture.
