We had an interesting conversation about relationships and expectations this morning. I strongly believe that the best thing to do in any friendship is to give people space and not to put any requirements or expectations on them. Everything a friend gives should be received as a gift and not taken for granted.

I think it's so dangerous to try to force other people into a role they might not like to fulfill. I also have the feeling that this might blur the line of seeing someone else like they really are as a person - and forcing your own views and interpretations on somebody you like.

I enjoy when friendships just are. For example when people don't expect to hold contact in certain intervals and are disappointed when that doesn't happen. I love when these things work without guilt on either side. Then you're just glad when you can see a good friend after a long while and pick up right where you left off. And when you liking and appreciating each other's friendship is understood, just as life being busy sometimes is understood too.
