Another whole day in the darkroom. My friend Ray recently got into shooting large format and took his first 4 exposures ever with his new 4x5 camera two days ago. He developed his film at home yesterday and drove up to Maine today to print a few frames together.
When he arrived we had coffee and talked cameras for a bit before we went to the darkroom. The owner of the darkroom had forgotten to turn the heat on and prepare one of the enlargers for 4x5, so we had to wait a few hours for her to show up. We had tons of fun making contact prints meanwhile though and the wait was worth it. The quality of large format is seriously mind blowing. I'm super happy for Ray and I can see that this is his thing.
I will stay faithful to my current setup despite all there is to love about large format. I love the look of B&W in 35mm and grain in my prints so much and I'm in a very happy place. But I get large format for the first time now.
