I thought so much about B&W film photography lately and why I am liking it so much more every day.
I think B&W relates to reading a book like color relates to watching a movie. Both is wonderful in its own way, but when you are reading a book you imagine part of the story. That's the same with B&W film, it's imaginative and suggestive. The viewer connects to the story and becomes part of it. With color, your mind doesn't need to fill in the blanks. Everything is already there.
I love shooting color and there is a lot that you can do with color that wouldn't work with B&W. But I think it's important to understand and reflect on the difference and make a conscious decision about what to use for which situation. If you use it right, B&W will never take from your artistic expression. Only add to it.
