I took a picture of our friend Ryan today at the cafe. I had asked him a few days ago if he would let me take his portrait and he agreed. This morning it was really quiet and we had great light.
We also had a very interesting talk about what a cool mix of people this area seems to attract. There are so many artists conglomerating at this little cafe that it almost feels like being in Paris. Ryan mentioned Gary and how he talked with him about coffee and then said "oh, and congratulations on your Guggenheim fellowship!". We were laughing so hard, but it's really true. I haven't met one single person that is stuck up here because of their accomplishments. In fact, the opposite - people do not like to talk about themselves or try to drop how important they think they are. I find that so refreshing. I like so much being around humble people.
